Coffee Cake

This cinnamon brown sugar sour cream coffee cake consists of a buttery cake covered with brown sugar cinnamon and topped with a streusel topping and a sweet glaze. The greatest coffee cake recipe is ideal for breakfast or brunch.  

I grew up eating coffee cake on special occasions. Every Christmas morning, we'd wake up to the soothing aroma of freshly baked cinnamon coffee cake in the kitchen.   

We always served it with a Bacon Egg and Cheese Casserole and egg nog, and it was the ideal Christmas morning in my opinion.

tender cake baked with butter and sour cream, which keeps it moist. Sour cream is a key element in coffee cake.

The brown sugar streusel is piled in the center and on top of the coffee cake, giving it a deep buttery, cinnamon flavor throughout.  

Make the streusel topping. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Using a pastry blender, cut in the butter until the crumbs are about the size of small peas.  

Add the pecans. You may also make this in a food processor and pulse a few times. Place in the freezer to stay cool while you prepare the batter.
