NBA suspends Ja Morant 25 games

NBA player Ja Morant was suspended for 25 games for league misconduct.

The NBA announced Friday that Memphis Grizzlies standout Ja Morant will serve 25 games without pay for disciplinary misconduct.

Morant is suspended immediately for the first 25 games of the 2023-24 regular season.

The NBA says Morant must meet certain requirements before being reinstated. Morant cannot play in public leagues or preseason games during his suspension.

He received an eight-game suspension in March for exhibiting a handgun on social media, his second in three months.

“Ja Morant’s decision to once again wield a firearm on social media is alarming and disconcerting given his similar conduct in March for which he was suspended eight games,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver stated Friday.

Ja's behavior could be emulated by other youth is worrisome. We feel a 25-game penalty is appropriate and shows that reckless gun use is not tolerated.”

Morant should make $33.5 million this season. During his ban, he may lose $300,000 per game, or $7.5 million.

The latest NBA probe began last month after Morant was photographed with a gun on a friend's Instagram post. Morant was suspended by the Grizzlies before the NBA sanction.

LeBron is wanted by the Lakers ‘on whatever term that he wants.’ Possible Bronny draft.
